2017-18 Registration Form

Our Pre-K Preschool has a maximum of 20 children
per classroom with 1 teacher per 10 children.

The class meets every weekday
Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

A typical day at Preschool looks like this:

9:00 - 9:20 Quiet Play
9:20 - 9:40 Calendar / Circle Time
9:40 - 10:10 Art
10:10 - 10:30 Snack Time
10:30 - 10:50 Letter Work
10:50 - 11:15 Play Time / Outdoor Play
11:15 - 11:30 Book / Story Time

Each day, we divide our time between play time and work time. We feel that it is just as important to have time to learn through play as well as comprehension through written and/or oral concepts. We break up our day so that the children change activities every 15 to 20 minutes.

We plan each week around a letter of the alphabet or a theme.
For example, on the letter A week, we may do the following activities.

  • Paint with Apples
  • A phonics paper
  • Letter A book
  • Sing the alphabet
  • Make an alligator puppet
  • Place animals with the letter A
  • Practice writing the letter A
  • Find things around the room that begin with the letter A

Each week we try to incorporate the following:

  • How the letter is shaped (what it looks like)
  • The proper way to make the letter
  • Listen to hearing how the letter sounds
  • Identify words that have that sound
  • Fun activities to remember the letter like reading books, making a craft, conducting a science experiment or another fun and creative activity.
  • Cutting with scissors (daily)
  • Story comprehension
  • Following oral directions
  • Learning sight words
  • Developing proper social skills
  • Fostering the ability to follow structure and routine

We also think it is important to learn how to:

  • Get along with others
  • Take turns
  • Be a good listener
  • Be a good helper
  • Ask for help
  • Walk in the hall quietly
  • Use good manners
  • Respect others
  • Learn to share
  • Be a good friend
  • Line up
  • Have patience

We like to use the "I can try" attitude instead of the "I can't do it" answer. We try to prepare your child for Kindergarten by teaching them the proper way to hold a scissor, how to cut, how to hold a writing utensil, and how to stay in the lines. We want to expose your child to the routine and things that they will experience in Kindergarten so when they get there, they will have the confidence to learn and try their best! We want preschool to be a fun learning experience! We find humor goes a long way with three year olds!

Progress reports are provided each February to show what your child has accomplished and if any needs or concerns should be addressed.

We hope you will come play, learn and grow with us!
